Interview with Pierre-Etienne T., owner of an Oceanis 31

Could you please introduce yourself?
My name is Pierre-Etienne Touati and I am French.
How did you start sailing? On what type of boats, and why?
I started sailing in 1969 in southern Brittany: we had chartered a small cruising sailboat with some students from my university.
I later acquired a First 18, which I used to train extensively in the bay of Dinard. A few years later, I swapped my First 18 for a First 22 so that I could extend my range and, in particular, set sail for the Channel Islands.
Over time, my preferences have evolved towards greater comfort. So, I decided to buy an Oceanis 31, which would allow me to enjoy real cruises, both with my family and with friends, along the coast of Brittany and, then to the United Kingdom.
In fact, this passion for sailing pushed me even further. Between 2015 and 2020, I had the opportunity to take part in some major offshore crossings with a crew of friends, from the Transpacific to Ushuaia
What are your most memorable sailing experiences on board?
I would say they are the night watches in the middle of the Pacific, as well as anchoring in the lagoons of the Leeward Islands and the Tuamotu Islands !
With whom do you usually go sailing?
I enjoy sailing both with my family or friends.
Is there a destination or a specific moment at sea that has left a strong impression on you?
I would say the Marquesas Islands without any doubt!
Why did you choose a BENETEAU sailing yacht?
