The 52nd Solitaire du FIGARO
The 52nd Solitaire du Figaro single-handed race will take place from 22 August to 16 September 2021. The race organizers revealed the course on Thursday, 11 March 2021. There will be four stages starting from St Nazaire. For this year’s event, all the stages will take place in France (Lorient, Fécamp and the Bay of Morlaix), although the Spanish, English and Irish coasts will near at hand.
The stages in this year’s race on the Figaro BENETEAU 3 will be long (nearly 2,500 miles in all) and tough, with top-level competition!
START AND FINISH IN ST NAZAIRE
The department of Loire-Atlantique is the leading sponsor of the Solitaire Le Figaro. Questioned about the sponsorship, Philippe Grosvalet, its president, said:
"The Solitaire du Figaro is a maker of legends. We will now see them emerge and take shape in Loire-Atlantique. A leading maritime region, Loire-Atlantique has an ideal location on the Atlantic shoreline and an international outlook. There is a real synergy and sense of ambition to develop maritime and nautical projects in the region and, together with our partners, we are happy to give them our backing."
Registrations will soon be open to all the Figaro racers wishing to take part in this legendary race. Last year, Armel Le Cleac'h joined the exclusive club of the three-time winners of the Solitaire Le Figaro single-handed race.
