14TH TRANSAT AG2R LA MONDIALE EAGERLY AWAITED

For the 14th year, the sailors sailed from Concarneau to St Barths, the pride of the West Indies! In all, 20 duos took part and, for the 3rd year running, the race supported FFVoile for the Challenge Handivoile. For the first weekend, opening on 22 April, the skippers competed double-handed with disabled sailors. The racers then got down to racing, with the crossing of the Bay of Biscay being the first difficulty they encountered.

Two Beneteau speedboats acted as escorts at the start of this legendary race – an Antares 36 and the old Barracuda 8

A NEW ONE DESIGN FOR THE NEXT RACE!

This was the last time that the legendary Figaro Bénéteau 2 sailing yachts lined up for the start of this transatlantic race. The new one design is planned to be used as of the 2019 racing season. With identical boats, the women and men competing will only be able to distinguish themselves at sea by their talent, good seamanship, and ability to push the boundaries.
