Vendée Globe

10th single-handed round-the-world race

A legendary race

The Vendée Globe is a renowned non-stop, unaided single-handed round-the-world race. It started back in 1989 and takes place every four years.

Every edition of this thrilling maritime race is an exciting adventure, both for the skippers and their thousands of supporters offering encouragement, and steadfastly tracking their progress every step of the way.

It is raced on IMOCA 18-metre-long monohulls, with the skippers sailing approximately 45,000 kilometres round the world.

BENETEAU, technical supplier of the Vendée Globe

BENETEAU has supported the Vendée Globe from the outset and is the technical supplier of the race. This year, BENETEAU is providing the organisers with a fleet of 14 motorboats from the Antares and Swift Trawler lines.

The BENETEAU fleet will be taking journalists, photographers and cameramen as close as possible to the event, in weather conditions that can be difficult at this time of year.

Course

The Vendée Globe course runs round the world, with the start taking place in the Bay of Les Sables d'Olonne.

The skippers sail down the Atlantic Ocean, cross the Indian and Pacific Oceans, and sail back up the Atlantic to return to Vendée.

Over the course of 24,300 nautical miles (45,000 kilometres), the competing boats will leave the 3 well-known capes to port side: the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Leeuwin, and the legendary Cape Horn.
