Flyer 8.8 SPACEdeck
Heroes of the 2017 SIOBC
Win in Mauritius
When the MY W4Y, a Flyer 8.8 SPACEdeck, competed in "THE SOUTH INDIAN OCEAN BILLFISH COMPETITION” it did not expect to sweep up all the votes at the end of the competition:
Best skipper: 1st
Best boat: 2nd
Best crew: 2nd
Altered to create a fully equipped fishing station for the event, the FLYER 8.8 MY W4Y (referring to the song) was very quick to draw attention and the captain Mr Hitié and his crew received quite a lot of media coverage on the marina pontoons. What was the strange chemistry as work that enabled the crew to catch over 9 marlins in 100 hours of fishing and to win the best catch of the competition: a 525 lb (238 kilo) marlin?

YACHT MANAGEMENT, BENETEAU DEALER IN MAURITIUS
Laurent HARDY from Yacht Management, who sold the flyer 8.8 SPACEdeck, is delighted with his customer’s win, but cannot explain such success: the boat hull, the engines, its colour or maybe just the talent of the crew! Located on the West coast of the island, at the MARINA Beacon, the dealer represents BENETEAU in Mauritius and the Seychelles.
THE SOUTH INDIAN OCEAN BILLFISH COMPETITION (SIOBC)
Started in the year 2000 and considered one of the best fishing competitions by the International Fishing Association, it brings together an increasing number of participants from all over the world, who compete with each other for 4 days in the warm waters of Mauritius. The aim is to clock up points by catching as many marlins as possible and preferably as heavy as possible! The event is organized by the Rivière Noire fishing club, the Morne Anglers’ Club. This club was founded in 1955 and is one of the main advocates of nautical activities and events on Mauritius.
