Join Beneteau to celebrate the 16th Summer Sailstice and enter a chance to win a $250 Helly Hansen jacket from the Beneteau boutique. Summer Sailstice is a worldwide celebration of sailing on the weekend closest to the summer solstice. This year, a growing community of over 20,000 sailors will be celebrating on June 18-19.

Summer Sailstice creates a once-a-year opportunity, ahead of the peak sailing season to put all of sailing on display, celebrate ‘together’, generate positive publicity and share it with the non-sailing world.  The event is not geographically or sailing discipline limited.  As a participant you can create an event, join an event near you or simply participate with your own, individual sailing plans such as racing the Newport Bermuda Race, joining the Delmarva Rally in the mid-Atlantic or sailing off to your own quiet anchorage.

“While timed for the Northern Hemisphere summer solstice the date aligns with 80-90% of the world’s sailors peak sailing season.  The Southern Hemisphere is always welcome and every year we have sailors register from places like Tahiti, South Africa, Australia and Argentina.  We want all sailors to use the first summer weekend to post their sailing plans, host open houses, invite friends and hoisting sails to tell their sailing story for this worldwide celebration.  Of course, a shot at winning a Sunsail charter is a bonus many past participants have already won and enjoyed! ” says event founder John Arndt.

Clubs, classes, events and sailing organizations take advantage of the Summer Sailstice celebration to publicize their local sailing opportunities while all combined it tells the global story of sailing.  The Summer Sailstice website provides a place for everyone to post and host their event while providing event publicity tools for all participants.  By collaborating, all sailors are able to let the world see everything sailing has to offer.
