Route du Rhum destination Guadeloupe

Christophe SOUCHAUD enters the legendary Route du Rhum transatlantic race on his First 40.7!

The Start of the 11th Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe will take place at 2.00 pm on 4 November 2018, in St Malo. The best viewpoints such as Cap Fréhel, the best place to go to watch the start, will probably be occupied from early morning.

Every four years, the Route du Rhum magic draws an increasing number of participants and brings crowds of people to watch this very popular race. The 2018 Route du Rhum has a fabulous line-up ranging from top professional yacht racers to amateurs.

This year, 6 categories will be represented (ULTIME, MULTI 50, IMOCA, CLASS40, RHUM Multihulls and RHUM Monohulls) and 123 boats will line up at the starting line.

Next Sunday, Christophe SOUCHAUD’s First 40.7 production boat will set sail alongside the offshore racing stars, in the ill-assorted “Rhum Monohulls”, with 17 boats entered. The former watch leader on Bob Escoffier’s Etoile Maxi (which will also compete in the race) will sail for CAP HANDI, an association working to promote ocean sailing for disabled people. Beyond his personal motivation, Christophe will also be showcasing the dreams of disabled people, by taking part in this transatlantic race with CAP HANDI.
