The First 45 is victorious in the Cowes – Dinard.

Lady Courrier shows her superiority over all classes.

The well-known Cowes-Dinard race took place over the weekend of 14 July, an event of some 164 miles. About a hundred boats from all over Europe were at the start. Géry Trentesaux’s First 45, Lady Courrier showed her superiority in her class as well as in the overall standing and returned with the Edward VII Cup.

According to Géry Trentesaux, the boat was very fast and the tactics adopted had paid off. “We decided to go to the west, which paid off for us as we found an excellent lay line for Les Hanois and were able to hold the spinnaker right up to the finishing line.”

With this victory, a very beautiful trophy is added to the First 45’s recent wealth of prizes.

The Rolex Commodores’ Cup 2008

The Firsts are out in force!

6 Bénéteau Firsts are competing in the event, three of them from the core French teams led by Géry Trentesaux, skipper of the First 45 Lady Courrier.

Sailing conditions in the Solent have been exceptional since the start of the competition on Monday, with sunshine and wind for this legendary race which draws together 45 boats representing 6 nations.

Following two days of upwind-downwind inshore racing, the First 45 Lady Courrier took three of the four legs, giving the French team France Bleue (to which it belongs) second position overall in the provisional rankings.

Wednesday will see the crews set sail for the offshore race. The competition finishes on Sunday 6th July, which still gives plenty of opportunities for the 3 French teams to improve their ranking.
